Commission E Secretary Appeals Residents Optimize Effort Preventing Dengue Fever

Jakarta City Council's Commission E Secretary, Justin Adrian invited residents to optimize the effort in preventing dengue fever, especially in rainy season.

Justin said the standing water during rainy season has big potential as place for aedes aegypti mosquitoes to grow their nest.

Residents Appealed to Run PSN Routinely in Preventing Dengue Fever

"It surely endangers the residents living near it," he said, Friday (2/14).

He also appealed all elements, including Jakarta Provincial Government ranks together with residents to eradicate mosquito nests.

Justin appreciated the Jakarta Provincial Government's effort through Health Agency for reminding the residents to do mosquito nest eradication (PSN) by draining, covering, burying (3M), and recycling items that could be breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

"They also actively invite residents to join in Jumantik program," he added.

According to him, the eradication of mosquito nests can start from mapping locations prone to flood, socialization and 3M training to the community, and fogging to reduce the mosquito population.

"It means Jakarta Provincial Government must prepare its residents to eradicate mosquito nests," he continued.

He stated that Jakarta Provincial Government is able to conduct socialization at schools, praying houses, community hall, and up to offices.

As for information, dengue fever case in Jakarta for January was 670 cases, or 77 percent higher compared to December 2024 by 379 cases.
